I swear I woke up yesterday in a different country. Even after having a very late night the night before and having to wake up early for work, I felt so gleeful… and so did the rest of Lüneburg. Walking through town, everyone was outside, sitting enjoying a coffee in Am Sande or having a beer with a friend and soaking up the sun at Comodo. Yes sunshine and warmth! If I had not been in Athens last weekend, I likely would have passed out from too much heat.
I sat with my friend Anna on her balcony for almost two hours watching all the people walk by, drinking coffee, and feeling completely at ease.
The Germany that I have known for the past four months has been very cold. People didn’t smile and laugh arm-in-arm as they walked down the street, or sit outside enjoying Eis. No, it was quite the opposite. Gestern war unglaublich schön!
Honestly, I feel like I just started my stay in a new country. I went to Hamburg with a few friends, a place I go at least once a week. However this time, it was all new. Everything was fresh and everything was perfect. We sat on the Alster, ejoying Eis and laughing for no reason with the thousands of other people that were doing the same thing.
Don’t get me wrong, winter in Germany was also fun, but this is much better!
Here are some pictures from my weekend with my Dad and some Drury professors in Athens. Best food that I have ever had, beautiful historic sights, and wonderful company. Thanks to my Dad and to Panos!
